Transition To a New Ministry
Coordinating Committee
Co-Chairs: Joyce Swindell & Vickie Bilisoly
The Vestry of St. Andrew’s established the Cordinating Committee to help the parish make its way from the splendid leadership of Charles Joy to the welcoming and settling in of a new Rector. Working under the direction of the Tranistion Committee chaired by Steve Herbert, the Coordinating Committee’s overall responsibility is to plan, coordinate, and manage current and special church events during the transition period.

WHAT WE’RE DOING
The Coordinating Committee is actively working on a number of fronts, including informing the congregation of the general process of transition, identifying the needs of the congregation during the transition, ensuring that essential church calendar events (weekly, seasonally, yearly) happen, and maintaining a Transition Bulletin Board.
Some of the special events/services that have already occurred include the following:
-
2006 Flower Festival dedicated to Charles and Faye
-
Special messages to Charles from the children in the Christmas pageant
-
Feast of Lights Dinner and Service
-
Lenten Suppers and Services
-
Easter and monthly Breakfasts
-
Special music with guest musicians arranged by Dr. Kosnik with special receptions organized by Dot Stedfast and her team
-
Youth Sunday Service and Reception
-
Friends of Charles’ Service---Guest minister, the Reverend Ed Pickup
- Farewell events for Julia Dorsey, Charles and Faye
- Welcoming The Rev. Cathy Mckinney as our Interim Rector
In closing, we request the help and prayers of the entire parish during the transition to ensure that the St. Andrew’s community continues to be a lively and spiritual parish. As part of its charge to inform the congregation of transition-related activities, the committee will provide regular updates on its activities through the St. Andrew’s website, the Saltire, Sunday service bulletins, and the Transition Bulletin Board. We encourage you to bring to the committee’s attention any issues that you feel need to be addressed during this time of change.
