Buildings and Grounds

In a spirit of joyful fellowship, the Buildings and Grounds Committee supports the mission of St. Andrew's by providing for the smooth operation of the facilities that serve as the place of our worship and the seat from which our activities reach out to the community.

The Buildings and Grounds Committee, under the guidance of the Junior Warden, is responsible for the upkeep of St. Andrew's Church and Rectory. It is composed of two or more vestry members and several volunteers from the congregation. The committee oversees the repair and maintenance of the buildings, the landscaping and appearances of the grounds. In addition, the committee recommends to the vestry policies and procedures affecting building usage and oversees implementation of pertinent vestry-approved policies.

Committee members review and recommend changes in contracts for maintenance and supply services. They review contractor performance. Members investigate alternative solutions to maintenance problems, develop and maintain long-range capital improvement plans, and review insurance requirements. On occasion and in accordance with talent, interest, and ability, members of the committee undertake small projects ranging from the refinishing of the altars to repainting the radiators, and pruning the shrubs.
