Altar Guild
The Altar is the essential and most sacred object in the church. Before it gather priest and people to offer as before God's throne the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. The Altar is God's Board, at which is celebrated the Holy Eucharist, the sublime act of Christian worship.
The Altar Guild exists to assist the Clergy, realizing the privilege of serving as God's housekeepers. Each member should dedicate herself and her work as an offering to God, to whom nothing but the best can be given. Perfect cleanliness and punctuality are absolutely essential in God's House and are the external manifestation of the spirit of loyalty and devotion.
The Altar Guild is responsible for preparations of all Holy Eucharist services; Hymn Board (songs); preparations for weddings, funerals, and baptisms; brass and silver polishing; and candle replacements. The Altar linens are cleaned, ironed, and cared for by three members of the Altar Guild on a rotating basis.
The Altar Guild depends on donations from the congregation, the Women of St. Andrew’s, and the Memorial Fund monies to purchase new Altar linens, candles, and other items which make our Altar a blessing to St. Andrew's.
